The Little Sweep, Benjamin Britten

Welcome to Julia Weatherley’s solo project performance of The Little Sweep website! Here you will find all you need to know about my solo project performance of Britten’s opera, The Little Sweep on 11th December 2007 1pm.

Tickets are just £2 and are available on the door! It promises to be a fantastic performance!

Composed by Benjamin Britten (libretto by Eric Crozier) in 1949, The Little Sweep is a heart felt tale of Sam the little sweep boy, who is pushed up chimneys by Black Bob and his son Clem. Although a morality tale the opera is not without is comedic moments.

This performance of The Little Sweep wishes to incorporate as many of the students from The University of York as possible. It will give the chance for people who would not normally go to an opera to be an integral part of one, bringing the fun and energy back into opera audiences, as well as bringing the univeristy comunity closer together.
